Do I need a piano at home?

Yes.  Although an acoustic piano is the best way to develop proper finger strength and technique, an electric keyboard with at least 6 octaves (48 weighted white keys) will suffice at the beginner level.  As the student progresses, a more advanced instrument will be required to meet the developing needs of the student.
