14 years ago, I started in group piano lessons with Tracey Steele. Along with introducing me to the basics of piano theory, Tracey’s group lessons taught me to appreciate music. When I switched into private lessons and began the RCM examinations, Tracey taught me the importance of a positive attitude, hard work, patience, a good work ethic and resiliency. My music education is valuable to me because it has provided me with an escape; when I play piano, I forget about all the stress in my life. What makes Tracey an exceptional teacher is that she is so inspirational. Every quality that she has instilled in me I can clearly see in her. Her love for music and what she does is contagious. For the past four years, I have been one of Tracey’s assistants. Every Saturday I help her teach the group lessons I was once part of. Teaching has become a huge part of my life. I am now pursuing a career in education at McGill. I can proudly say that Tracey has played a major role in shaping me into the woman I am today. I could never thank her enough for everything she has given me.
